“To all who mourn in Israel he will give beauty for ashes;
Joy instead of mourning, Praise instead of heaviness.
For God has planted them like strong and graceful oaks for his own glory”

– Isaiah 61:3

About the Illustrations…

Often, the imperfect are discarded or forgotten, left for ashes… but God sees the beauty and His glory within them.

It was our desire to create beauty from the ashes. As we gathered the broken branches, seeds, bark, leaves, moss covered twigs, and flowers that had fallen to the earth, we helped them find their newfound purpose.

MAIJA S. CAMPBELL, Illustrator – is a native of Kotka, Finland. Her rich Scandinavian heritage is found in her love for nature and creation. As an inquisitive child, Maija spent hours with her brother exploring the wonders of the woods, picking wild berries, and using sticks and stones to build make-believe houses. Maija continues to uncover newfound purpose for what is often overlooked or thrown away, finding beauty for ashes. Maija currently teaches early childhood in Destin,  Florida.

Our Inspiration…

Lily Bell: Worthy of Love was inspired by Lily Isabella, our best friends’ daughter, who suffered a stroke in utero which caused bi-lateral scarring of her brain, resulting in Cerebral Palsy.

Lily’s journey has not been easy, but so worthy. She has shown us how to hope against all hope, to keep dancing in the rain, and that we are all worthy of love. She is a masterpiece.

Thank you, for allowing me to tell her story.
